Finally, a wild update appeared!

In which characters say a lot of things but the plot doesn't really move.

But it is interesting and helpful I hope! We'll get more plots after.

YESS That's awesome! I've been ranting and complaining on the deviant site how I didn't tolerate Nina's retorts, but I'm relieved that she actually is reflecting on that conversation!

Completely love how you added the scientific research- it actually makes the professors seem like professors (plus it got me happy as a science student myself XD)

Nina's caught a lot of pokemon, but she's only used 11 in battle, 5 of which have died. Cheren has lost at least 2 pokemon and has used at least 8 (including those 2) in battle. That's a mortality rate of nearly 50% and 25% respectively. There supposedly two of the best trainers there is. It seems unlikely that they're both just really unlucky. I know you can't control how many of Nina's pokemon die, but if I lost half my team, I'd have trouble trusting this data.

@Kynim: Well formulated explanation. Nicely organized update. Definitely was worth the wait!

Posted at December 1st, 2013, 10:58 pm

This was an excellent way to explain and resolve the ethical and scientific side of Pokemon battling while also providing character development for Bianca and allowing for Nina to settle her own issues. I'm very impressed.

It's nice to see an update as well; I can't wait to see more, but don't rush. All that matters is quality work and this is one of my three favorite comics so I know the next chapter will be good!

@SUGauthor: That is a very valid response to all the infodump TBH. But I intentionally left Nina's reaction to all this vague (she never outright agrees or disagrees with Bianca's exposition). You can also interpret Nina and Cheren's stats as outliers, which DO occur in real research. A majority might follow one trend but there will always be a few (albeit statistically insignificant) people that deviate greatly.

(Also copypasting the following from dA and whatever)

If this explanation feels like I am copping out on the previous issue's anti-battle arguement N made, I apologize. BUT I actually wanted to do more of a balanced argument (albeit pseudo-sciencey). N' point is still valid as is Bianca's. One is more rooted in personal morals/experience and the other is more objective and data-based. Either way, as Bianca said in #037, all of this info dump is "research data that might be help some people." People can still disregard the merits of these works and believe whatever they want. People will pick sides and have their reasons for it.

Really loved how the uh.. science mumbo jumbo was explained^^ I didn't get much of it but I've enjoyed this update just as much :3 Definately worth waitin, good job as always~

And I really loved the part when Bianca stated that pokemon should have their own rights.

I'm going to second Nightblade & Merone here - I'm really liking the scientific approach to the comic, along with the problem of who Nina has to listen to, Bianca or N... you've really gone all-out fleshing out the individual characters and plot. For that, I applaud you.
*internet high five*!
Let's also throw in the obligatory awesome comic comment, because it really is one of the best that I've seen. I've recommended it to quite a few people, who have all expressed extreme liking for it.
Now... the reason I really had to comment for fear of my life. Someone who happens to be reading this with me gave a thinly veiled threat of violence if I didn't give you her idea for an extra comic - gift lists. She, and I as well, think it'd be a cute thing to do. But, whatever. I'm looking forward to anything you put out- it's quality work, and every single update (no matter how quickly it comes) is anticipated and cherished when it arrives. Keep it up!

Great update! I love the way it's all sciency and stuff, and that Bianca isn't so insecure anymore.
Are there going to be other cameo contests in the future?

I say this is a very helpful update and it somewhat does allow the story to move on or else she'd just be depressed the rest of the time.

Anyone else imaging Bianca saying the Skittles motto when she gives Nina Professor Oak's research papers?

You broke my mind.

And I like it.

Yes! How I love this page! Not only did you have Nina reflect on N's message, you had Bianca develope more into her B&W2 self(Hopefully she will become a Pokemon Professer!) WHILE giving a lesson to the readers at the same time. Thank you for this page, and heck, the entire comic series!

Science! *flashy lights*

I do like this explanation very much! Good work. This will be interesting, especially since I'm POSSIBLY entering a nuzlocke RP.

Okay, this update was amazing. I would explain why, but everyone else already has. But I like how we finally have a counter argument to N and Team Plasma. Anyway, good work as always!

A quick ramble

This is the best Pokemon comic I have read, ever. I just found it today and have read everything up to this point. The artwork is beautiful, the characterization is superb, the points where the story strays from official cannon can only be called improvements, and serve to make the world and characters more three dimensional. The scene at the Celestial Tower when the Bell was rung... it made me tear up a bit. ;w; I could go on, but I would just be listing my favorite scenes(like the really intense bits when Nina and N touched the Dragon stones, or when Lin has a vision of Nina with what I presume was a Hydreigon). Thanks for creating something so amazing, please carry on!

Wow, that's a really interesting theory. It takes the game from just kill 'em all because it's fun to a practical reason for battling.

Pointing Something Out

If they raised the age limit from 10 to 16-18...they how the heck do we have youngsters! xD
[Dont take that seriously, lol.]
Anyway, awesome comic! I was excited to read it when it first came out! :D
